Integrated Collaboration Environment Program

What is an  Integrated Collaboration Environment?

An Integrated Collaboration Environment is the vision of a technological and cultural future of collaborative activity at Monash University. 'Supporting collaborative activity' is an implementation theme of the information management strategic initiative at Monash.

The Program vision

"Working within the integrated collaboration environment enables the Monash community to make better use of expertise and information resources".

About the Program

This Program is a body of activity that will be conducted, commencing 2007, to achieve the Program vision. The Integrated Collaboration Environment Program provides a single governance structure, guiding the coordinated development and release of a suite of communication and collaboration products and services that are being developed within a program of ITS projects.

The Program aims to provide the best available technology tools and practice to support common and agreed interaction, communication and collaboration activities.

Meeting Monash's business requirements

Expiry of vendor support for a range of Monash's existing services, including:

  • calendar
  • student email
  • the PABX telephony system and
  • the Collabra email list service.

has been a key driver for the pooled investment of University resources required to deliver this Program.

Replacement of these items with an integrated suite of services will:

  • enhance Monash's communication and collaboration capabilities
  • ensure our technology use remains comparative to other universities
  • provide an acceptable total cost of ownership .

University Consultation

With a University wide focus, a representative Steering Committee, chaired by Alan McMeekin, Executive Director ITS, has been formed to lead the Program.

A change management strategy developed to ensure Monash business requirements are adequately considered will incorporate user engagement throughout the Program with four key groups:

  1. Reference Group
  2. User Group
  3. Training and Support Co-op
  4. Community Group
