First graduation ceremony held

The first graduation ceremony to be held by Monash University took place on 8 April 1964. In total, 67 graduands were presented in the faculties of Arts, Economics and Politics, and Science.
The ceremony was held in the basement locker room of the Robert Menzies School of Humanities.
Today: Monash University now holds 28 "onshore" graduation ceremonies and 7 "offshore" graduation ceremonies each year, and aims to make each ceremony special. Graduation is an essential part of the academic experience at Monash.
