Named after prominent Australian Sir John Monash, Monash University was established by an Act of Parliament in 1958, making it the first university to be established in the State of Victoria for 106 years.
Today: Monash is Australia's most internationalised university. It has eight campuses including one in Malaysia and one in South Africa, and a centre in Prato, Italy. An energetic and dynamic university, Monash is committed to quality education and research.
Monash attracts some of the most talented staff in the world - our academics publish some 5000 research works annually and the university has research links with more than 120 institutions throughout Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East.
The recent rankings of universities in the Times Higher Education Supplement in the UK (2005 and 2006) placed Monash among the top 40 universities in the world - an outstanding achievement for such a young university.
