"How Science Works" is a compulsory second year Science subject that focuses on thinking Science, doing Science, applying Science and communicating Science. Leading researchers at Monash deliver lectures on cutting edge topics such as stem cell research, the synchrotron, nano-technology, GM crops amongst others. Students also have to interview a scientific researcher. This presentation demonstrates and discusses the highly popular and effective program in action.

Deb has developed a number of innovative, effective processes within her own teaching of a units both on and off campus to ensure consistently high quality. This presentation will address the question of how quality assurance processes can be used to inform the teaching process rather than seeing it as an added chore for already over-worked academics.
