Overview

The choices made about food, equipment, materials, transport, heating and cooling can translate into depletion of natural resources, landfill and emission of greenhouse gases, which also impact on social sustainability .

By hosting a sustainable food expo we will demonstrate how the Monash community can improve their environmental impact through their food choices.

Guest presenter (Clayton campus)

Tobie Puttock, Executive Chef, Fifteen, will give two 45-minute cooking demonstrations.

Tobie Puttock Tobie is well known for his work with the Fifteen Foundation alongside Jamie Oliver. They set up the restaurant Fifteen for underprivileged youths to be able to work and learn the art of cooking. The project was later televised in a highly successful series. With his light-hearted approach and passion for food, Tobie has been a regular on television shows such as Good Morning Australia and Ready Steady Cook; as well as starring alongside Jamie Oliver in the hit 'Channel 10' series 'Jamie's Kitchen - Australia'.

Getting there

Use this opportunity to leave the car at home:

  • Take the bus, train or tram. Visit the Metlink website or call 131 638 for directions.
  • Take the shuttle bus. Monash has free shuttle buses for staff and students.
  • Ride. Cycling 5km or less the bike is faster than a car. You can also combine cycling with train travel to get anywhere in Melbourne.
  • Consider car pooling.
  • Walk. Everyone needs at least 30 minutes exercise a day.
