Overview
Over 80 per cent of Australians live in cities which are the source of 75 per cent of our greenhouse gas emissions. It is evident that if we are to meet the challenge of ‘climate change' we will need to rapidly reconfigure the way our cities operate.
This reconfiguration needs to take place within the context that 90 per cent of our City's 2020 infrastructure will have been built by 2009. The challenge will not be building our way out of the problem, but rather how we reconfigure existing infrastructure to account for the needs of climatic change.
This highly topical presentation will look at a simple pragmatic way of reconfiguring Australian cities to meet this challenge.
