Vice-Chancellor's Concertmaster Scholarship

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa, or
  • an international student, and
  • a music performance student intending to enrol full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) program conducted by the School of Music at a Monash campus in Australia, and
  • majoring in violin performance studies.

Full-fee paying domestic undergraduate students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Selection criteria

Awarded to the eligible student based on a two-stage selection process consisting of a combination of audition/interview and academic performance.

Value

  • Commonwealth-Supported Place contributions paid for either one year or half a year for domestic students, or
  • $5,000 paid for one year or $2,500 paid for half a year for postgraduate and international students.

Number available in 2009

Up to two.

Retention

Recipients must maintain full-time enrolment and a minimum of a distinction grade average (70 per cent).

Deferability

This scholarship cannot be deferred.

Applications open 10:00am (AEST) Friday 1 August 2008 and close 5:00pm (AEST) Friday 31 October 2008.
