Ellen Wissing

Master of Medical Radiations (Nuclear Medicine)

After several of her Year 12 students went on to study for a Bachelor of Radiography degree, physics teacher Ellen Wissing became interested in this field of medical science herself.

Ellen already holds bachelor degrees in science and in economics, as well as a Diploma of Education, but with her enrolment in the Master of Medical Radiations (Nuclear Medicine) at Monash she has taken on a new challenge.

This two-year course, which is taught principally by distance education (off-campus) comprises a number of coursework units, together with semester-long placements in hospital settings. The aim of the course is to prepare capable graduates to assume practice as accredited and registered Nuclear Medicine Scientists, qualified to work in public and private nuclear medicine centres. Ellen’s placements at the Royal Melbourne and Box Hill Hospitals in Melbourne provide the opportunity for her to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting.
