Costs for students

Fees and costs associated with university study include tuition or course fees and general expenses to cover books, materials and travel. Some students may also need to consider accommodation costs.

Tuition fees

Domestic students enrolling in an undergraduate place at Monash have the option of applying for either a Commonwealth supported place (previously known as a HECS place) or a full-fee place. Full-fee places are available in addition to existing Commonwealth-supported places.
International students are only accepted on a full-fee basis.

Accommodation costs

Monash offers a range of accommodation options for students enrolled at its Victorian campuses. Costs vary depending on the type of accommodation students require and which campus they are studying at. The Parkville campus does not have its own residential facilities, but students can be put in touch with accommodation facilities close to the campus.

Monash Residential Services  on each campus provides advice about on-campus and off-campus accommodation options.

Other costs

Most courses require textbooks or related materials. The cost of a book can vary from $10 to more than $100. Monash University has bookshops that supply all of the required texts, as well as a second-hand bookshop that provides many texts at considerably less cost.

Some courses may also have extra costs associated with them. These are usually courses that require students to use special materials for producing work, such as fine art degrees, or uniforms for clinical placements in a nursing course. Students should find out about these costs when researching the courses.
