Application process - students studying the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or International Baccalaureate (IB)

Step 1: Find the Monash course that is right for you

Step 2: Check the entry requirements

Step 3: Submit an application

  • VCE applicants wishing to apply for Monash undergraduate degrees need to submit an application directly to the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC)
  • International Baccalaureate applicants studying in Australia wishing to apply for Monash undergraduate degrees need to submit an application directly to the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). For students studying International Baccalaureate outside Australia, please refer to the Students Studying Overseas page.
  • You must apply online via the VTAC website. The site fully outlines the application procedure you must follow and the cost involved
  • Enter the VTAC course codes for the courses and campuses you wish to apply for. All course codes must end with the number 3. This identifies you as an international student and that the program is available to international students
  • As a VCE international student you have 12 preferences. Please ensure you order them from 1 being the course and campus you would must like to undertake and 12 being the course and campus that is the least of your preferences
  • Be realistic with your preferences and weigh up all of your options. Have you considered opening the doors to Monash University through Monash College
  • Ensure you meet the pre-requisites subjects and complete the extra requirements as stated in the VTAC Guide

What Happens Now?

VTAC forward your application to Monash University once results are released and change of preference has closed. An assessment is made on all of your 12 preferences where your eligibility to enter your selected course is made.

Step 4: Offer stage

  • Applicants will be notified by email approximately two weeks after receiving final results and submission of all required documentation.
  • If successful Monash University will send an offer pack to the mailing address you enter in the VTAC system or to the mailing address written on your application form. Please ensure this is correct and contains the most up to date contact information
  • An offer pack will be sent that includes:
    • A letter of Offer
    • Acceptance Documents
    • Essential Information to help you prepare for life at Monash
  • To accept your offer please follow the instructions in the offer pack or use our acceptance guide.
  • Offers can be emailed

Step 5: Accept your offer

  • Once you have received your offer from Monash, accept your offer and send it back to Monash, together with payment for your first semester as outlined in your offer letter
  • Please ensure you state clearly the Department of Immigration and Citizenship office where you will lodge your student visa application.
  • Monash will then send you a Confirmation of Enrolment by email which you can use to apply for your student visa. The Confirmation of Enrolment is one of many documents required by Department of Immigration and Citizenship to assess your student visa application

Step 6: Applying for your student VISA

Apply for your student visa and arrive on time for enrolment and registration.
