Security services

All campuses have security offices which offer 24-hour emergency response, security escort services and first aid.

Special security services are available at different campuses, according to size and location. These include:

  • security escort service
  • security phones
  • security bus service
  • security-approved access to buildings after hours and on weekends
  • emergency help points
  • emergency telephones throughout buildings.

There is a range of community services and programs to connect with the Monash community. With your help and feedback, Monash can help you with your concerns and suggestions.

The Community Care Line

You are encouraged to ask for assistance if you:

  • feel threatened or unsafe
  • have concerns about someone else's behaviour
  • are worried about someone harming themselves or someone else
  • receive unwanted attention or communications

Cooperation with Victoria Police

Monash invites the Victoria Police Multicultural Liaison Unit on campus at the start of each semester to chat with international students on safety on and off campus

The University works closely with Victoria Police to improve security on campus.

Pre-departure briefings for students

Monash staff run pre-departure briefings in your home country where they will talk to you about security and personal safety at Monash.

Topics include:

  • security services available
  • emergency contact numbers
  • ways to ensure your own personal safety
  • programs and community services for you to voice your concerns about safety on campus
