Monash and India

Monash has had a long association with the education sector in India and strong partnerships with local education institutions. In 2008, about 500 Indian students were studying at Monash University in Australia.

IITB-Monash Research Academy

The IITB-Monash Research Academy, based in Mumbai, India is an exciting partnership between the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) and Monash University – two of the world's leading educational and research institutions. Together IITB and Monash are taking a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary research that can effectively deliver high impact, integrated solutions to complex research problems for industry, government and the broader research community.

Latest news on the IITB-Monash Research Academy

The IITB-Monash Research Academy has completed its June 2009 student intake. The Academy received nearly 1500 applications for the PhD program. 250 candidates were invited to apply and of those 250, 90 were invited to interview. Following the interview schedule, the Academy selected 17 excellent candidates who will commence their PhD program from July 2009.

The PhD students are undertaking exciting projects that match their research interests and capabilities. This now brings the total student numbers at the Academy to 41. Another intake round is scheduled for December, 2009. To apply visit the IITB-Monash Research Academy website.
