Enrolment for On-Campus Students
To accept an offer
Come to the university as specified in the offer letter. The completion of requirements on enrolment day forms an acceptance of the offer.
- Domestic PhD or Masters by Research Applicants: Have up to one month from the date of offer to complete enrolment.
- International PhD or Masters by Research Applicants: Have up to six months from the date of offer to complete enrolment.
To refuse an offer
- Simply do not attend the Enrolment Day or take any further action.
Failure to enrol
- If you do not enrol at the time specified in the offer letter it will be assumed that you do not want to accept the offer.
Proxy enrolment
Please note: Proxy enrolments are available for local and Permenant Resident students only. International students must enrol in person.
- If you cannot attend the university in person on Enrolment Day you can appoint a proxy. A proxy is someone who:
- attends and completes some of the enrolment process on your behalf,
- has your written authority to enrol, and
- may be a parent, relative or friend.
- Your proxy:
- must bring an 'Authorisation for Proxy Enrolment form (pdf, 1 page, 40KB)' signed by the prospective student and proxy, plus a list of units the student seeks to undertake,
- must retain any documents given out during enrolment. As per the Higher Education Support Act 2003 a proxy cannot complete or sign a 'Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP' form or a 'Request for FEE-HELP form' unless they also have Power of Attorney.
- Will be given a letter specifying details of what enrolment procedures must still be completed by the student.
- If you do not have anyone who can act as a proxy then you should contact the faculty that administers the course.

When to arrive
- The offer letter will indicate the day, time and location of your enrolment. Aim to arrive approximately 15 minutes before in order to allow time for parking and finding the Faculty Enrolment Centre.

How to speed up enrolment
- All Monash students are provided with an IT Account at the point of offer into a course. It consists of a username and password and is called an AUTHCATE account. It provides access to electronic services such as internet, email, the My.Monash portal, library and the Web Enrolment System (WES).
You should:
- Obtain your Monash University Authcate Account Click on 'Register for new Account' and you will be able to get your Authcate Account.
- Log into the Web Enrolment System (WES) to complete some of the enrolment requirements. Your Authcate username, password and date of birth or postcode are required for login.
- Check that your postal address details are correct and amend if necessary.
- Register an emergency contact person.
- Complete the Enrolment Questionnaire.
- If you have been offered a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) (refer to your offer letter) you can complete an on-line ‘Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP’ form.
Be sure to click the 'Submit' button and you will be given a transaction number for each form that you have successfully completed. If you do not receive a transaction number you have not successfully completed the relevant form.

Stages of enrolment
Faculty Enrolment Centre
- You will complete the academic requirements of enrolment such as choosing your units for the academic year.
Campus Enrolment Centre
- You will complete the administrative requirements of your enrolment.
Enrolment Document Checkpoint
- Staff will check your Course Enrolment Form or Manual Enrolment Slip and Transaction Numbers to confirm if you have completed the Enrolment Questionnaire and ‘Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP’ form (Commonwealth supported place (CSP) students only). If you have completed these forms via the Web Enrolment System (WES) you will be fast tracked to obtain your Student ID Card.
- If you have not completed the Enrolment Questionnaire and/or ‘Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP’ form staff will:
- ensure that you have completed all the necessary requirements up to this point, and
- redirect you to the next stage where you will be assisted in activating your Authcate Account and completing the Enrolment Questionnaire via the Web Enrolment System (WES).
Authcate Access and On-line Forms
- If you have activated your Authcate Account, completed the Enrolment Questionnaire and the ‘Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP’ form then you will not be asked to complete this stage.
- Staff and computers will be available for you to activate your Authcate Account and complete the Enrolment Questionnaire and ‘Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP’ form.
Obtain Student ID Card
- Smile for the camera and receive your student ID card.
Orientation
- Orientation marks the beginning of semester for new students. It's designed to help you settle into university and provide you with information to fully prepare you for the start of classes. Get involved and make the most of it.
- Monash University conducts Orientation in semester one and two.
- During Orientation faculties will take the opportunity to introduce you to the teaching methods and the manner of learning expected in the particular disciplines (subject areas) they offer, in addition to welcoming you to the university. This initial experience will be an important aspect of the partnership you will form with the university, and will help you feel as though you really belong.

Payment of Fees
Within two weeks of enrolling an email will be sent to your Monash student email account informating you that your fees have been assessed and your 'Enrolment Details and Fee Statement' is now available to view and print online. The invoice will outline your course and unit enrolment details and the applicable fees and payment date. Payment options are available at http://www.monash.edu.au/fees/payment/methods.html.
Monash Email Account
You will need to use your Authcate Account to access your Monash email account. Your Monash email account will be activated once your faculty has enrolled you into units.
The University will use your Monash email account to communicate and provide documentation to you. You must access your Monash email account on at least a weekly basis. The University will only send emails to your Monash email account and not to personal ISP email accounts. When you communicate with the University via email it must be from your Monash email account.
