Benefits of the Enhancement Studies Program

Intellectual Challenge

Students are provided with intellectual challenges and an approach to learning that may not otherwise be available in the normal Year 12 program.

They are able to interact with university staff members who are experts in their field.

Meet other like-minded students

Students attending classes will have the benefit of working in small groups and meeting other students of similar high academic ability from different schools.

Get a taste for university life

Students are able to gain an insight into the demands of university study, which can greatly assist the transition from school to full-time university study.

When commencing study, enhancement students have access to a range resources not normally available to other Year 12 students. This includes:

  • The University libraries
  • Study Skills Centre
  • A Monash email address and computer access
  • Interaction with academic staff members.

For additional resources, please visit the Current Students website.

Receive an Academic Award

All Enhancement Studies students will be commended for their work at a ceremony at the end of the academic year. In addition, the highest achieving students from each subject area will receive a certificate and cheque for their outstanding achievement.

Boost your ENTER and gain university credit

The university study is included in the calculation of your Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER). In addition, students are eligible to receive credit for future university studies.

Be invited to exclusive events

Enhancement studies students are invited to attend special events throughout the year, such as the Monash Leadership Day for High Achieving Students.

No penalty if you withdraw or fail

If you fail or withdraw from a subject, there is no record of your status and therefore no disadvantage for you to apply to Monash or any other university.
