As a graduate, you will be qualified to deliver care in traditional health settings, such as hospitals, as well as community-based settings, such as general practice, Royal District Nursing and community health centres.
After successfully completing the course and meeting the registration requirements of the the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you'll be eligible to become a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
TAFE
Applicants who have completed a graded Diploma of Nursing are eligible to apply. This qualification may entitle students to receive a maximum of 48 credit points towards the first year of the Bachelor of Nursing (Community Health), if selected. Selection of applicants with a Diploma of Nursing will be based on academic results. Unscored or ungraded TAFE qualifications will not be considered for entry.
UNIVERSITY
Applicants with complete or incomplete university studies may be considered eligible for entry into this course.
SINGLE SUBJECT ENROLMENT
Applicants may undertake two single units from the Bachelor of Nursing (Community Health) to meet minimum entry requirements, however additional units may enhance their chances of selection. There are no compulsory units, however science units from the Bachelor of Nursing (Community Health) are recommended. Applicants undertaking single units may apply for credit on admission. Alternatively, applicants may undertake units through Open University Australia.
BRIDGING COURSES
A one-year, full-time Diploma of Tertiary Studies is offered through the Monash University, Berwick Campus. Applicants seeking entry via this pathway must demonstrate successful completion of all units and minimum of a credit average over the course.
Units 1 and 2-general mathematics or mathematical methods (CAS), or Units 3 and 4-mathematics (any). Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.
Gaining the required result in one of the following tests of English language:
a minimum overall IELTS test score of at least 6.5 with individual band scores required at 6.5 for Reading, 6.5 for Listening, 6.0 for Writing and 6.0 for Speaking.
a TOEFL minimum test score of either;
in the written TOEFL, 580 with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 4.5; or
in the internet-based TOEFL, an overall score of at least 90 with at least 22 in the written section and no less than 20 in any other section.
