Why study Master of Economics?

This course provides an opportunity for students to develop and strengthen their skills in the discipline of economics by drawing upon the latest research in the field. The course addresses the growing need for professional economists in both the private and public section by equipping students with in-depth knowledge in economics and the experience of undertaking independent research. Master of Economics provides an effective articulation path into the HDR program at the PhD level offered by Monash University.

Minimum entrance requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian bachelor degree or an equivalent qualification in mathematical or quantitative studies, or with a major in Economics, or the Economics stream in the Graduate Diploma in Economic Studies and a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70% or an equivalent GPA as determined by the Faculty. Applicants will be ranked and selected based on their entire academic record.

Enrolment obligation

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than 25% of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students cannot enrol exclusively in distance and/or online learning study in any compulsory study period. See standard 9.4 of The National Code 2007.
