As a graduate, you will be qualified to work as an educator, researcher, policy officer, food regulator or public health advocate in the government and non-government sectors. You could also be employed in industry as a food regulator or product developer.
The growing awareness of the importance of good nutrition to good health is placing nutritionists at the forefront of health care in the community as educators, advisers, researchers, product developers and regulators.
This course, offered at our Clayton campus, gives you a scientific understanding of healthy eating and nutrient requirements.
You will also develop the skills to assess dietary intake and food chemistry and composition and gain a sound knowledge of our complex food regulations.
In the final year of this three-year, full-time degree, you will get the chance to apply the principles of scientific inquiry to a nutrition-related research project on a topic of interest to you.
Monash's world-leading obesity and diabetes research centres and our presence in the nutrition and dietetics department at Monash Medical Centre, one of Melbourne's major teaching hospitals, ensures the course is full of the latest evidence-based knowledge.
The course opens up rewarding opportunities in policy development and practice in the government and non-government sectors as a public health researcher or policy officer and in industry in the areas of in-product development and food regulation.
