Course overviewThis course seeks to upgrade the qualifications of registered nurses to meet the needs of working in contemporary health care settings. It assists students to develop the skills necessary to understand and evaluate new information and concepts. The course prepares nurses who are committed to the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health, and the prevention of disease. Areas of study include legal and ethical issues, medical-surgical nursing, high acuity care, health promotion, social sciences, multicultural issues, anatomy, physiology, microbiology and pharmacology, plus other related areas. Duration, campus, fees and application information Career outlookGraduates will be eligible to apply for registration as Division 1 nurses with the Nurses Board of Victoria, or its equivalent. Graduates may work in a variety of settings including public or private hospitals, community health centres, mental health care, home-based nursing, extended care and rehabilitation.
