This course aims to assist those with an interest in pursuing professional development in the area of forensic nursing. Areas covered are: forensic knowledge and nursing responsibilities in forensic cases; clinical consultations with victims of crime and offenders; medicolegal report writing and provision of evidence in court; theoretical and cultural aspects of interpersonal violence. The course comprises four core units including: sexual assault nursing 1 and 2; understanding injuries; and nursing and the criminal justice system.
Graduates of this course would seek employment within the various health care systems specialising in forensic services.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent; registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria (Division 1 or be eligible for registration); and at least one year of professional clinical experience. It is also desirable to have experience or training in: emergency, midwifery, sexual health, venereology, family planning or women's health.
