This new degree provides foundation learning in health science with major study options in health promotion, health industry/hospital management and health informatics. The course develops a broad critical understanding of knowledge, intellectual and cultural curiosity, and a range of skills such as computing, problem solving, interpersonal skills and discipline specific communications skills.
Graduates will find careers in health promotion, and health policy and management, working in government and non-government organisations such as community health or divisions of general practice, as well as in research and policy development.

1. A study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in units 3 and 4 in any VCE English unit or what is judged to be an equivalent level of English language proficiency in an alternate pre-university English unit. 2. All secondary schooling completed was in English and successful completion of at least two university level units in an institution where English is the language of instruction and assessment for the entire institution (with the possible exception of foreign language units). These units must be 'English rich' and judged by the faculty offering the course for which application is sought as being an appropriate test of proficiency in English language for that course. 3. Successful completion of at least two university level units and then completion, at an appropriate standard, of an English language test administered by Monash University. This option is only available on a case by case basis at the discretion of the faculty and in such cases the test will be funded by the faculty. 4. Study in an institution where English is the language of instruction and assessment for the entire institution (with the possible exception of foreign language units), satisfactorily completing either; at least the equivalent of the first year of a university course (completion of a TAFE or a Singapore Polytechnic Diploma is regarded as meeting this requirement; if the institution was not in Australia, applicants must have met the requirement within the past two years) OR at least the equivalent of a two year tertiary program (if the institution was not in Australia, applicants must have met the requirement within the past five years). There must be formal advice from the institution to support the claim that this requirement has been satisfied.5. IELTS (International English Language Testing System - academic) minimum test score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.5 for Reading and Listening and 6.0 for Writing and Speaking (This is accepted for both domestic and international students).6. TOEFL (American Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 580 with a TWE of 4.5; or a computer-based TOEFL 237 with an Essay Rating (ER) of 5; or an Internet-based TOEFL score of 90 with 22 in Writing and no section lower than 20 7. Successful completion of the English Language Bridging Program, at the appropriate level, at the Monash University English Language Centre or other programs judged equivalent.
