Entry requirements

Minimum entrance requirements

Applicants are required to have completed a bachelors degree in emergency health, or equivalent undergraduate studies leading to practice as a health professional. In addition, applicants wishing to undertake the clinical practicum units will need to demonstrate current relevant health professional registration (or equivalent), and appropriate sponsored support. Interstate and international applicants with an equivalent qualification may apply for entry. Such applicants will be assessed on a case by case basis with reference to university credit/Recognition of Prior Learning guidelines. Applicants without an undergraduate degree but with extensive relevant experience may be considered on a case by case basis.

International applicants for the aeormedical and retrieval stream will need:

  • to be eligible for professional registration Australia;
  • to have a current appropriate study visa e.g. Occupational Training Visa; and
  • a minimum of one year's experience in a relevant clinical health setting.

Medical Steam

Admission into the medical stream will be restricted to overseas doctors selected by their own government to train in the practice of Emergency Medicine, at the Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre.

Applicants will need:

  • to be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner in the State of Victoria;
  • to have a current appropriate study visa e.g. Occupational Training Visa; and
  • a minimum of one year's experience in a relevant clinical health setting.
