Entry requirements

Minimum entrance requirements for non-school-leavers

All applicants should note that the English and mathematics prerequisites for the courses must be satisfied.

TAFE Completed qualifications at Certificate IV, diploma or advanced diploma level are required. Students should achieve at least a 60% average. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grade or marks will not meet the admission requirements.

University Applicants require a minimum of 2 units. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. Additional units (above the minimum of two) may enhance the application.

VCE prerequisites

Units 1 and 2-any two units from general mathematics and/or mathematical methods (either). Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English and a study score of at least 30 in one of art or studio arts.

International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites

English and one of Mathematical Studies or Further Mathematics SL or Mathematics HL or Mathematics SL at a minimum grade of four and Visual Arts at a minimum of grade five at standard level or grade four at a higher level..

English requirements for international students

IELTS 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0, Reading and Listening bands require a score of at least 6.5; TOEFL 580 with a TWE of 4.5; or an internet-based TEOFL score of at least 90 with 22 in Writing and no section lower than 20

Interview: Applicants must telephone (03) 5122 6261 or (03) 9902 6261 to book, by 26 September. Details will be sent to applicants by 6 November. Applicants must attend in November. Advisory letters will be sent to applicants by 12 December.

DIRECT APPLICATIONS

International Applicants: All applicants must submit a folio of 10-15 images of their work for assessment. Please refer to the Faculty of Art & Design website for further information.
