Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Visual Arts for 2010

Course overview

The course offers students a sound knowledge of the theories and practices required to work professionally in the visual arts. They can also expect to develop a broad base of critcal, analytical and communication skills through their studies in the humanities and social sciences.

Students complete a major in studio practice and theory chosen from glass, metals/jewellery, painting, photomedia, printmedia, sculpture or the theory of art and design. A major and minor and electives are chosen from the wide range offered within the Bachelor of Arts.

In the second year, places in specific studios will be allocated on the basis of academic merit.

Career outlook

Graduates will be able to consider practical options in visual arts and media, or careers in cultural programs for community, government or business, curatorial and arts management, art and design criticism, publishing and art therapy.
