After you graduate from this double degree, you will be qualified to enter the sport and outdoor recreation industries in areas such as sports management, sports marketing and event management. You may also pursue business careers in accounting, business law, taxation, economics, management and marketing.
Sport is a global business and its cultural and economic influence can have a profound impact on communities around the world. This double degree combines the knowledge and skills in sport, outdoor recreation and business, giving you a head start in this exciting industry.
Your business studies cover the fundamental areas of business statistics, marketing theory and practice, managing people and organisations, microeconomics, introductory accounting and business law. You also have the unique opportunity to learn in contemporary environments through the problem-based learning (PBL) approach of our Bachelor of Business, which is delivered at our Peninsula campus.
PBL is highly regarded by employers, and we are the only university to offer it in business. You will work with a small team of fellow students and an academic mentor to create practical solutions to real life problems - discovering and applying the same knowledge and skills as you would in a traditional course. View the full Faculty of Business and Economics 2013 Undergraduate Course Guide.
The sport and outdoor recreation component is a dynamic combination of theoretical studies and practical fieldwork programs in a range of settings. You will combine core business and sport and outdoor recreation units with a major in Business. You can also choose elective units such as nutrition, fitness and conditioning.
Depending on which units you study, you will do exciting field placements in areas including coaching and instruction, leadership and programming, and sport education. Throughout your degree, you can take advantage of the fantastic sport and recreation facilities available at our Monash Peninsula Activity and Recreation Centre.
This course consists of core business units, a major business sequence and core and elective sport and outdoor recreation units.
