Career opportunities

The Master in Regional and Community Development is designed to suit those working in the public and private social sector in areas such as community development, health, education, social welfare, community arts, criminal justice, and the environment, and specifically those in roles that require or invite community engagement and a knowledge and understanding of the politics of community and place.

Why study Master of Regional Education and Community Development?

A commitment to people and place, social justice, human rights and a sustainable environment is what underpins the Master in Regional Education and Community Development.

This program is suited to people working in roles that require you to engage with the community and understand the politics of community and place. You may be working in the public or private social sector in areas such as community development, health, education, social welfare, community arts, criminal justice or the environment.

You will be equipped to undertake planning and research in local, state, national and international public and private sector organisations. Your strategic understanding will allow you to contribute to the formation of socially and ecologically sustainable communities and places.

The program explores key models and approaches to environmentally sustainable community development in the new contexts of globalisation and partnership approaches. You will be able to work towards the involvement of diverse (and often disadvantaged) sectors in the community. You will critically examine the practices of community planning to help you engage directly in processes of planning and research. Your learning will be able to be applied in both local and international contexts.

The Master in Regional Education and Community Development incorporates the Graduate Certificate and the Graduate Diploma in Regional Education and Community Development programs. Students may exit the program after successful completion of four units with the DevelopmentGraduate Diploma in Regional Education and Community , or after successful completion of two units with the Graduate Certificate in Regional Education and Community Development.
