The Master in School Leadership is designed to meet the needs of teachers from all sectors who aspire to curriculum leadership and principalship roles in schools. It is an excellent choice for educators who are interested in learning about and developing their capacity for leadership.
Facilitating a higher level approach to key issues within the profession, this program is ideally suited to those seeking curriculum leadership roles in literacy or numeracy and/or principalship in school settings. The program will enhance professional development and inspire individuals to take the next step in their career.
Monash has the research and teaching expertise to inspire the educational leaders of tomorrow - who will improve the learning opportunities of all of Australia's children.
You will complete four units in one of the three options to suit your professional needs and career goals. If you're seeking a qualification in "School Leadership" choose the Master in School Leadership, if you are seeking specialist curriculum leadership qualifications in Literacy or Numeracy you can choose the Master in School Leadership specialising in Literacy, or the Master in School Leadership specialising in Numeracy.
During this program you will expand your world view through organisational and environmental perspectives and theory focused projects, while developing leadership skills and the ability to influence at school and system levels. You will extend personal and professional growth; develop relationships with other leading practitioners; learn management skills through applying theory into practice, understand ethical leadership, care and professional support; and develop alliances within school, local, regional and professional communities.
To enroll you apply directly through the Faculty of Education as a full fee paying student or through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) cohort program. Students who meet the entry requirements for the DEECD cohort program will receive a subsidised place. The DEECD cohort is managed through the Victorian government's education initiative, the Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership.
