Entry requirements

International entry requirements

Audition and Interview: Students intending to specialise in composition are required to submit up to three compositions that show the range and proficiency of their work, accompanied by a declaration that they are entirely their own work. Students intending to specialise in performance should prepare for audition two pieces of music drawn from a varied repertoire, for example a work from the classical period, a work from the Romantic period, or work written in the 20th century. Non-pianists must provide their own accompanists. If students cannot attend an audition in person, video taped auditions are acceptable. For further inquiries, email: music@arts.monash.edu.au

VCE prerequisites

Units 1 and 2-two units of general mathematics or mathematical methods (either). Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English. Normally, a standard of at least Grade 7 Australian Music Education Board, or Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (Performance), or Trinity College London or equivalent is also required.

International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites

English and mathematics (any) at a minimum of grade four at standard level. Normally, a standard of at least Grade 7 AMEB, or Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (Performance), or Trinity College London or equivalent is also required.

VTAC Non Year 12 applicants only:

Applicants must complete and submit a VTAC Pi form and include evidence of how they have fulfilled the equivalent of the listed Mathematics prerequisite units.

Applications are made directly to the University and can be made online via International Recruitment Services.
