Entry requirements

International entry requirements

Entry to the Monash University Foundation Year program is open to international students only.

AGE ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Students must be at least 16 years of age when they first enrol for the Foundation Year program.

If applicants do not meet the above criteria, but would otherwise have been offered a place, they will be offered a deferred place to be taken up when the age criterion is met.

Please note that students must be at least 17 years of age when commencing at Monash University.

ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Applicants must have an Australian Year 11 or equivalent qualification to enter the Foundation Year program.

Students must achieve at least an average grade in English and other subjects as specified in subject prerequisites.

English requirements for international students

Students must have and be able to demonstrate an average level of English language prior to being offered a place in the Foundation Year program.

Minimum English language requirements for MUFY are:

• IELTS: 5.5 (writing 5.5)
• TOEFL: 527 TWE 4.5
• TOEFL: (iBT): 71 (writing 18)

Please note: students that meet the age and academic requirements but fall short of the English language requirements may be given a conditional offer requiring the completion of an English language program.

Applications are made directly to the University and can be made online via International Recruitment Services.

Enrolment obligation

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than 25% of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students cannot enrol exclusively in distance and/or online learning study in any compulsory study period. See standard 9.4 of The National Code 2007.
