This program will enhance midwives career options across midwifery fields of practice. Select units are available for those intending to apply for midwife practitioner status with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or to engage in research.

The Master of Clinical Midwifery offers students the ability to customise elements of their learning to meet their individual personal, professional and midwifery community needs.

The course is designed to offer registered midwives higher degree studies.

Applicants should normally hold a Bachelor and/or Graduate Diploma of Midwifery or a Bachelor of Nursing. Applicants who hold a Certificate of Midwifery and who satisfy minimum standards for university entry will be required to undertake the following graduate diploma units (MID5003 and MID5004) prior to progressing to the masters course.

Entry requirements

International entry requirements

Applicants should normally hold a Graduate Diploma of Midwifery. Applicants who hold a Certificate of Midwifery and who satisfy minimum standards for university entry will be required to undertake the following graduate diploma units (MID5003 and MID5004) prior to progressing to the masters course.

English requirements for international students

A minimum overall IELTS test score of at least 6.5 with individual band scores required at 6.5 for Reading, 6.5 for Listening, 6.0 for Writing and 6.0 for Speaking;

a TOEFL minimum test score of either: in the written TOEFL, 580 with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 4.5; or in the internet-based TOEFL, an overall score of at least 90 with at least 22 in the written section and no less than 20 in any other section.

Enrolment obligation

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than 25% of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students cannot enrol exclusively in distance and/or online learning study in any compulsory study period. See standard 9.4 of The National Code 2007.
