As both science and biomedical science graduates are highly employable, this double degree will increase your career prospects. You'll be well prepared to work in the healthcare and medical-related industries, as well as areas that require fundamental science knowledge and skills.
Employment opportunities exist in pharmaceutical industries, research institutes, industry development and product technology, where highly skilled, critical thinkers are valued.
Other employment possibilities include hospitals and medical industries, the government sector and health communications and promotion.
You can also progress to further study, such as an honours year or graduate entry programs.
Certified chemist status with the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (for students who complete an approved program in chemistry).
Graduate membership of the Australian Institute of Physics (for students who complete an approved major sequence in physics, plus required units in mathematics).
TAFE Diploma graduates
To be considered, applicants who have completed VCE or its equivalent and who are applying with a science-based diploma will require a minimum average result of at least 70%
Applicants who have not completed VCE but have completed a science-based diploma will require a minimum average results of at least 80%
TAFE Certificate IV graduates
Science-based certificate IV level studies will be considered where the applicant has average results of 80% or above. For applicants who have also completed VCE, both qualifications will be considered. No credit is granted for these studies.
University
Two single units satisfy minimum entry requirements, but more units may be useful for selection, especially in science areas. Applicants should have at least a 70% average in their studies.
Studies must have been completed within a five years of intended commencement.
Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in English (any), and a study score of at least 25 in chemistry and in one of mathematical methods (CAS), specialist mathematics or physics.
Yr 12 or equivalent
IELTS 7.0 with no individual band score less than 6.5.

This course currently doesn't have places available for mid-year entry.
