Bachelor of Biomedical Science / Bachelor of Science for 2009

Course overview

This double degree program is for high-achieving students with an interest in both biomedical and basic sciences. It provides the opportunity to combine studies in the core units for the Bachelor of Biomedical Science component with up to two major sequences in related areas of science in the Bachelor of Science component. Fourteen biomedical core units provide students with the skills necessary to understand and investigate the functions of humans and other mammals. Graduates will have an advanced understanding of at least one basic area of science that underpins or compliments biomedical sciences and is relevant to medical research and healthcare. One science major sequence must be chosen from chemistry, biological sciences, genetics, physics, mathematics or statistics. A minor or second major sequence must be chosen from a different science area of study including any of the biomedical sciences such as anatomy, biochemistry, cell biology, human pathology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, pharmacology and physiology.
