Career opportunities

With a strong demand for research scientists in Australia and abroad, this degree provides you with a gateway to a well-paid and meaningful career.

Career choices are similar to those of the honours degree in the Bachelor of Science, but as this course focuses on training you in scientific research, it is particularly suitable if you are planning to continue onto specialist postgraduate studies or to work in one of the many fascinating research-related fields.

More generally, as a scientist, you will play an important role in developing cutting edge technologies, therapies and initiatives that address some of the greatest challenges to society. You may be instrumental in policy making, research and teaching, addressing issues associated with health care and social well being. You may also be employed in traditional and emerging areas where expertise in life sciences, geosciences, mathematics and statistics, computer sciences and the physical sciences are important. Science graduates are in high demand and secure exciting and well-paid jobs.
