Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice for 2010

Course overview

The Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice allows students to develop further knowledge and skills in a range of pharmacy practice-related areas. This is a 24 credit point course that is studied on a part-time basis. There are two streams of this course:

Students in the 'Pharmacy Internship' stream in the Graduate Certificate of Pharmacy Practice complete the two Pharmacy Internship units ('Applied pharmacy practice I' and 'Applied pharmacy practice II'), and in addition complete two elective units drawn from the faculty's wound care and clinical pharmacy courses and economics units. The electives can be taken concurrently with the Internship units, or completed after the Internship units.

The Registered Pharmacists stream explores areas of specialty practice providing the opportunity to develop further knowledge and skills in a range of pharmacy practice-related areas, economics, wound and clinical pharmacy. This provides an excellent opportunity for ongoing professional development.

Career outlook

This is an approved course of study for the purpose of registration by the Pharmacy Board of Victoria.

Entry requirements

Minimum entrance requirements

A degree or equivalent qualification in pharmacy from Australia or New Zealand. Overseas applicants must have completed APEC (Australian Pharmacy Examining Council) requirements. Applicants must be planning to commence internship (pre-registration) practical training at a Pharmacy Board of Victoria approved pharmacy or hospital, under supervision of an approved pharmacist preceptor within 90 days of commencing the course. Registered pharmacists are also eligible to enrol in the Graduate Certificate of Pharmacy Practice.
