Social work is one of the fastest growing areas of employment in the fields of health, mental health, education, and child and family welfare. As a social worker, you will be able to work in clinical or practice settings, in policy writing, program evaluation and development and research. Graduates work in schools, child and family welfare, corrections, Centrelink, and community and multicultural agencies.
As a Monash honours student, you will develop outstanding research training, and have additional skills that are sought after by employers. You will have fantastic prospects for gaining employment after graduation.

TAFE
A minimum of Certificate IV will be considered and admission will be based on academic merit.
University
Applicants are considered on the basis of VCE or equivalent results.
Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.
Gaining the required result in one of the following tests of English language:
a minimum overall IELTS test score of at least 6.5 with individual band scores required at 6.5 for Reading, 6.5 for Listening, 6.0 for Writing and 6.0 for Speaking.
a TOEFL minimum test score of either;
in the written TOEFL, 580 with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 4.5; or
in the internet-based TOEFL, an overall score of at least 90 with at least 22 in the written section and no less than 20 in any other section.

There are no additional requirements for international students.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS; Police check: Students must complete a National Police Records Check before undertaking clinical placements. Working With Children Check: Students must hold a Working With Children Check before undertaking clinical placements. Failure to hold satisfactory checks may result in students being unable to complete this course.
