Why study Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Work?

These qualifications, combined, will make you stand out from the crowd when it comes to choosing a career.

Complementing your social work studies with an arts degree gives you the opportunity to explore ideas around social justice and politics with a keen critical eye. We offer more than 50 distinct study areas in everything from bioethics to women's studies. Whatever you choose, you will learn the kind of transferable skills that are equally applicable to a profession in social work - communication, research, analysis, persuasiveness, and the ability to change and grow.

The course aims to develop skills necessary for research by studying the methodological, theoretical and ethical issues that underpin social work research. You are provided with the same learning and practice opportunities as students in the pass degree. In the honours program, you are expected to develop and complete a research project that will include a critical literature review, ethics approval, and a 10,000-12,000 word thesis.

Our arts degree is flexible, so you can build your ideal course. There are no compulsory units. Choose from our broad suite of studies and complete at least one major, one minor and a first-year sequence.
