Course overview[Note: The off-campus study option is only available in Singapore through the Faculty of Education's offshore partner APMI-KAPLAN]. The Master of Education (TESOL International) offers a complete range of units covering basic teaching principles through issues in curriculum and assessment to broader socio-cultural concerns regarding the place of English in learners' lives. Students will develop an understanding of the theory and practice of teaching English as a second, foreign or international language in a range of contexts (primary, secondary, tertiary and the workplace). The program is designed to meet the needs of teachers (or prospective teachers) from overseas who are qualified to teach in their home country. It does not qualify the graduate to teach in Australia. For local students who do wish to have the option of also teaching in Australia, it would be an alternative to the Master of Education (TESOL) if the advanced practicum (with field placement) were taken and the applicant were deemed already qualified as a teacher (as per local requirements). Exit points: Students may exit the program after successful completion of four units with a Postgraduate Diploma of Education, or after two units with a postgraduate certificate.
