Upon completion of both the Bachelor of Architectural Design and the Master of Architecture, students will have achieved the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) National Competency Standards applicable to university courses and will comply with the Royal Australian Institute of Architecture (RAIA) Education Policy Performance Criteria.

Why study Master of Architecture?

Architecture is a five-year academic program comprising the Bachelor of Architecture and the Master of Architecture degrees. The master of Architecture offers a coursework postgraduate education in the discipline of architecture and meets the requirements for professional registration. The program of study will engage students with social, historical and theoretical contexts of architecture as well as providing knowledge of the professional practice requirements for the practice of architecture.

Entry requirements

Minimum entrance requirements

Applicants should hold an Australian bachelor degree in architecture with a minimum 70% weighted average in the final year of the degree, from a recognised tertiary institution. This qualifying undergraduate program must have been completed within 5 years of the proposed commencement of the Masters program. Students who have successfully completed the Bachelor of Architectural Design at Monash University will automatically progress to the Master of Architecture.

Special application requirements

Applicants will send a folio and curriculum vitae along with their application; shortlisted applicants must attend an interview. International students will be interviewed by telephone or by video conference.

An overall IELTS score of 6.5, minimum 6.5 in Listening & Reading and minimum 6.0 in Writing & Speaking; TOEFL 580 with a TWE of 4.5; or a internet-based TOEFL 90 with an writing score of at least of 22 and no socre lower than 20 in all other sections

Enrolment obligation

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than 25% of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students cannot enrol exclusively in distance and/or online learning study in any compulsory study period. See standard 9.4 of The National Code 2007.
