Course overview
This course explores the theoretical and practical issues involved in reading and writing biographies and life stories. It addresses many of the ethical, moral and legal issues in writing biography and life stories and offers students an insight into some of the ways in which psychoanalysis, feminist theory and postcolonial studies have effected the understanding of biography and life writing. The course covers areas such as accessing of resources and ways to design and utilise interviews. Students will also be required to research and write a biography or life story. Exit points: Students who have successfully completed one semester of the course may apply to exit with a Graduate Certificate of Arts. Those who have completed one year full-time may apply to exit with Graduate Diploma in Biography and Life Writing.
