Entry requirements

Minimum entrance requirements

Audition and Interview: Students intending to specialise in composition are required to submit up to three compositions that show the range and proficiency of their work, accompanied by a declaration that they are entirely their own work. Students intending to specialise in performance should prepare for audition two pieces of music drawn from a varied repertoire, for example a work from the classical period, a work from the Romantic period, or work written in the 20th century. Non-pianists must provide their own accompanists. If students cannot attend an audition in person, video taped auditions are acceptable. For further inquiries, email: music@arts.monash.edu.au

VCE prerequisites

Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English. Normally a standard of at least Grade 7 Australian Music Education Board or Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (Performance), or Trinity College London, or equivalent is also required.

International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites

English at a minimum of grade four at standard level. Normally a standard of at least Grade 7 Australian Music Education Board or Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (Performance) or Trinity College London or equivalent is also required

Special application requirements
