If you want to practice professionally as an architect, the Bachelor of Architectural Design is the first of the two degrees you will need. Once you successfully complete it, you're guaranteed entry into our two-year Master of Architecture.

With the Master of Architecture, you will be ready to practise. Our constantly changing built environment means a continual demand for architects exists in Australia and internationally.

Professional recognitions

Australian

The Monash architecture program is fully accredited. When you graduate from the five-year, Bachelor of Architectural Design and Master of Architecture program, you will meet the academic requirements for registration as an architect in Australia.

To register as an architect in Australia, you must also complete an additional two years of professional practice experience and pass the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia Architectural Practice Examination. As an architecture graduate, you will have to grapple with problems not yet imagined. Not simply a technician in the world of today, you will be a participant in shaping the world of tomorrow.

Entry requirements

VCE prerequisites

Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English, and a study score of at least 25 in mathematics (any). All applicants must achieve a minimum ATAR of 98.00 to be eligible for selection.

International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites

  • A score of at least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL, and
  • A score of at least 4 in mathematics SL or 4 in mathematical studies SL or 4 in further mathematics SL or 3 in mathematics HL.

Applicants must achieve a minimum IB score of 40 to be eligible for selection.

Special application requirements

DIRECT APPLICANTS:

International Applicants (Non School Leavers Only): All applicants must submit a statement detailing their reasons for wanting study architecture and any work and/or study experience. For further information, please refer to the Faculty of Art & Design website.

Local Applicants: All local applicants must apply through VTAC. Please refer to above information.
