Graduate Certificate of Pharmacoeconomics for 2009

Course overview

This four-unit course has been designed for those involved in the pharmaceutical industry and will provide an understanding of the economics of pharmaceuticals in health care systems. Students gain the skills necessary to apply economic analysis to the evaluation of products and the broad policy issues affecting the industry. They will also gain the skills to prepare a cost-effectiveness analysis of a drug, apply economic modelling to support the inclusion or exclusion of a drug on a national or hospital formulary, design a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of drugs, and apply methods of evaluation to health and non-health outcomes of drug use.
