Graduates can pursue a career in teaching or in educational research. The Monash Honours award marks the recipient as having in-depth knowledge and advanced research skills, and gives them an edge in the job market.
Monash is committed to developing Australia's premier Honours program, offering the University's brightest students the chance to enhance their qualifications and in-depth knowledge of their chosen subject.
The Faculty of Education's Honours degree is designed for high performing students who have completed their undergraduate degree with a Distinction average in their final two years of study.
The Honours program is ideal for students who seek to pursue a future in educational research. It provides a great introduction to research, enabling students to extend their knowledge in the field of education and to learn about the varied approaches to educational research.
As well as equipping students with an understanding of various research methods in education, the course engenders an understanding of complex issues in education and an ability to design, frame, conduct and report on significant educational issues.
The program allows students to develop and conduct a supervised Honours project and offers a direct pathway to doctoral studies. Honours students are highly valued and contribute greatly to the research culture within the faculty and university-wide.
