TAFE
Students who have completed certificate or diploma-level TAFE courses are unlikely to be offered a place due to strong competition for places. The faculty requires high achievement in VCE Chemistry, English (any), Mathematical Methods and Biology (or equivalent). Studies in VCE Biology and/or Physics are also recommended. These VCE studies may be undertaken at TAFE.
In considering applicants for admission, the faculty will only consider studies completed no more than ten years prior to admission.
University
The faculty prefers applicants to have completed the equivalent of a full year of study in an undergraduate degree (eg science or biomedical science). A high level of academic achievement at tertiary level should be demonstrated.
Prerequisite studies can be met at either the VCE or tertiary level.
In considering applicants for admission, the faculty will only consider studies completed no more than ten years prior to admission.
Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English, and a study score of at least 30 in chemistry and mathematical methods (CAS).
IELTS overall score of 7 with no band lower than 6.5; or TOEFL 580 with a TWE of 4.5; or an Internet-based TOEFL score of 90 with 22 in Writing and no section lower than 20.
Local applicants: All local applicants for the Bachelor of Pharmacy must complete the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT). The UMAT test is conducted by ACER (The Australian Council for Educational Research). Students should consult http://umatweb.acer.edu.au/ for information about the test date and to download the UMAT information booklet or telephone 03 9277 5673. Non-year 12 (eg. transfer, mature age, TAFE) applicants must also complete the VTAC Personal Information (Pi) form.
International applicants: There are no special requirements.
