Course overview

This course prepares students for a professional and academic career in the field of information management and systems research and practice. It will provide students with the skills needed to conduct research projects in the field related to information products, processes, services and systems within and between organisations. The course can be studied in two ways - by 100 per cent research or by a combination of coursework and research.

Note: The duration of the course is a minimum of 1 year (full-time) & up to a maximum of 2 years (full-time), with no extensions.

Minimum entrance requirements

Entry to the course will require completion of a four-year bachelors degree (including at least 50% thesis component in final year) in some relevant area with a grade of at least second class honours (HIIA).

Applicants who do not meet this requirement may gain entry to the course after the completion of an approved preliminary program at second class honours standard as approved by faculty board.

English requirements for international students

IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6.5 in Reading and Listening and 6.0 in Writing and Speaking; TOEFL 580 with a TWE of 4.5; or an Internet-based TOEFL score of 90 with 22 in Writing and no section lower than 20.
