Why study Diploma of Business (Business)?

The diploma is offered in two parts. Part 1 is taught at Australian Year 12 level and Part 2 is equivalent to first year of an undergraduate degree and Studies provides entry to the second year of selected Monash University degrees. Students may enter one of the following Monash University destination degrees after the diploma: Bachelor of Business and Commerce, Bachelor of Tourism, Bachelor of Business (all majors), Bachelor of Business (Accounting) all double degrees, Bachelor of Business (Management) / (Marketing), Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) / Bachelor of Computing Students are required to complete a wide range of compulsory subjects covering all aspects of business. They include management, marketing, economics, law, accounting and communication. A small number of electives are also available. This course is suitable for students who:

  • narrowly miss out on the entry scores required for directly entry into Monash University
  • need to bridge the gap between their highest qualification and those required for entry to Monash University
  • Want an alternative pathway than Year 12 or foundation studies

Australian Year 11 mathematics or equivalent is required for entry into both Part 1 and 2.

Students may satisfy the mathematics prerequisite by undertaking additional mathematics subjects at Monash College.

English requirements for international students

English Language Requirements

Students must demonstrate English language ability before being admitted to Monash College. English language requirements can be met if:

  • English was the language of instruction in secondary or tertiary studies completed, or
  • A satisfactory level of performance in an approved English language subject was achieved at Australian Year 11 or 12 (or equivalent), or
  • Other English language proficiency requirements are met

Enrolment obligation

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than 25% of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students cannot enrol exclusively in distance and/or online learning study in any compulsory study period. See standard 9.4 of The National Code 2007.
