Why study Diploma of Tertiary Studies?

The course offers an alternative entry pathway for students wishing to study at the Gippsland, Berwick or Peninsula campuses. Students can use the course to explore their academic options and gain credit in a range of degrees.

The course consists of two core units that provide study skills, along with six units from elected areas of interest. Units are available in arts and communications, business and economics, computing and information technology, education and nursing.

Equivalent Australian Year 12.

VCE prerequisites

Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English and a minimum ATAR of 50 and, Business stream: Units 3 and 4-mathematics (any). Business and Commerce, Education, Information Technology and Systems and Nursing streams: Units 1 and 2-two units (any study combination) from general mathematics or mathematical methods (CAS) or Units 3 and 4-mathematics (any). Sciences stream: Units 3 and 4-one of biology, chemistry, mathematical methods (CAS), physics, geography, psychology or specialist mathematics.

Visual and Media Arts (Diploma of Tertiary Studies):

Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English and a minimum ATAR of 50.

International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites

Arts

A score of at least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL.

Business and Commerce, Education, Information Technology and Systems, Nursing, Science

A score of at least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL, and score of at least 3 in any mathematics subject.

Visual arts

Enrolment obligation

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than 25% of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students cannot enrol exclusively in distance and/or online learning study in any compulsory study period. See standard 9.4 of The National Code 2007.
