Entry requirementsInternational entry requirementsEquivalent Australian Year 12 OR to be eligible for an external transfer OR internal transfer, students must have: (1) completed one or more years of a recognised tertiary degree (ie. a minimum of 48 credit points) and (2) achieved a credit average or better (60%+) across all university units for an international full-fee place. Note: The above average is the minimum entry criteria to be eligible for admission. Entry to law courses via transfer is a competitive process and the actual average required depends on the number and standard of applications received each year. Minimum entrance requirements for non-school-leaversTAFE The Faculty of Law does not accept TAFE qualifications as grounds for admission. University The Faculty of Law does not accept single unit enrolments for undergraduate studies. However, those students with international qualifications who are required by the Council of Legal Education to complete units for admission to practice in Australia may enrol in certain units. Graduate Entry Requirements Applicants seeking entry into the Bachelor of Laws who have completed an undergraduate or higher degree; be ranked according to the average of ALL the results in their previous years of tertiary study (up to a maximum of the last ten years); and have obtained a minimum distinction (70%+) average (averages are calculated across all tertiary studies, irrespective of discipline and are minimum entry criteria to be eligible for admission) are eligible to apply. External transfers Applicants who have completed a minimum of one year's equivalent full-time study in an undergraduate or higher degree and has obtained a minimum distinction (70%+) average (averages are calculated across all tertiary studies, irrespective of discipline and are minimum entry criteria to be eligible for admission) are eligible to apply. Postgraduate pathways Non-law graduates considering a career in the law should contact the faculty to inquire about the Master of Laws (Legal Practice, Skills and Ethics)/JD, an accelerated program leading to admission to practice. This alternative program for non-law graduates is run from the Monash University Law Chambers in Bourke Street, Melbourne. VCE prerequisitesUnits 3 and 4 a study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English. For admission to the music major, normally a standard of at least Grade 7 Australian Music Education Board, or Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (Performance), or Trinity College London, or equivalent is also required. International Baccalaureate subject prerequisitesEnglish at a minimum of grade five at standard level or four at higher level. English requirements for international studentsIELTS 6.5 overall with at least 6.5 in Reading and Listening and 6.0 in Writing and Speaking; or TOEFL 580 with a TWE of 4.5; or an Internet-based TOEFL score of 90 with 22 in Writing and no section lower than 20.
