Career opportunities

Most of our graduates pursue careers as radiographers in public or private hospitals, or private radiology practices. Graduates can also specialise in medical ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, management, research, or medical applications experts with medical imaging companies.

Professional recognitions

Australian

The course is accredited by the Australian Institute of Radiography. Graduates are eligible to apply to the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia for registration as a radiographer.

Entry requirements

Minimum entrance requirements for non-school-leavers

TAFE

Applicants with a science-based diploma qualification who achieve a 80% average, with at least an average of 70% in physics or biology and mathematics will be considered.

University

Applicants are required to demonstrate their preparedness and aptitude for study by taking two single units, preferably in areas that correspond to the prerequisite studies. Applicants require at least a distinction average (70%) in these studies and need to have completed them within seven years of application.

VCE prerequisites

Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English and a study score of at least 25 in physics or biology and in mathematical methods (CAS) or specialist mathematics.

International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites

  • A score of at least 5 in English SL or 4 in English HL or 6 in English B SL or 5 in English B HL, and
  • A score of at least 4 in mathematics SL or 3 in mathematics HL or 4 in further mathematics SL, and
  • A score of at least 4 in physics or biology SL or 3 in physics or biology HL.

English requirements for international students

IELTS 6.5 with individual band scores required at 6.0 for Reading, 6.5 for Listening, 6.0 for Writing and 6.5 for Speaking.

Special application requirements

Non-Year 12 applicants

  • Applicants must complete the Monash Supplementary Information Form by 28 September 2012 (http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/admissions/vtac/)
  • Complete a Clinical Site Visit
  • If short-listed, attend a selection interview on either the 12 or 13 December 2012

Applications are made directly to the University and can be made online via International Recruitment Services.

Enrolment obligation

International students enrolling in a CRICOS-registered course can study no more than 25% of their course by distance and/or online learning. Students cannot enrol exclusively in distance and/or online learning study in any compulsory study period. See standard 9.4 of The National Code 2007.
