Course overview[This course does not provide a recognised initial teaching qualification. Students seeking an initial teaching qualification should visit the faculty website for information on the faculty's Graduate Diploma of Education programs.] This program is designed for those interested in developing knowledge and skills of teaching. The program aims to help participants focus on teaching and learning in ways that encourage the development of reflective practice and its relationship to ongoing professional learning and growth. It will aid participants to better understand the central role of professional learning in the ongoing development of professional knowledge of practice. The program aims to: - stimulate teachers to think about the relationship between theory and practice in teaching - foster deeper understandings of classroom practice and its relationship to student learning - foster a greater awareness of the nature of professional learning - highlight the nature of professional knowledge of practice - develop deeper understandings of a diversity of approaches to teaching and learning about practice. This course is a flexible program offered to professional educators to allow them to upgrade their qualifications. It is also offered to non-tertiary qualified applicants who may use it as an entry to graduate and postgraduate study (provided they meet specified minimum grade levels). Studies can be chosen from a wide range of on-campus and off-campus units, totalling 24 credit points.
