Course overviewPrimary teaching is one of the most rewarding fields of education. This course is designed to fully prepare students for careers as teachers in primary schools, providing them with a comprehensive background in the key learning areas of arts, English, maths, health and physical education, science, social education and technology. Valuable classroom experience is gained by completing a minimum of 80 days of professional placements throughout the course, to be undertaken in a variety of settings, with the opportunity to gain teaching experience locally, nationally and overseas. Gippsland students will have the option of completing a middle school specialisation including specific units for teaching years 7 to 10. Duration, campus, fees and application information Career outlookFollowing registration with VIT graduates are qualified to teach in Victoria. Graduates wishing to teach interstate or overseas are advised to check registration requirements with local authorities. Students undertaking the middle school option available at Gippsland will be eligible for registration and employment in Victoria to teach P-10 in their discipline area. AccreditationAustralian: The Bachelor of Primary Education provides initial preparation for primary school teachers. Graduates will be eligible for registration and employment in Victoria as primary school teachers within state, independent and Catholic schools and related teaching services. Students undertaking the Middle School option available at Gippsland will be eligible for registration and employment in Victoria to teach P - 10 in their discipline area for the secondary years. For interstate and overseas positions, applicants are advised to check registration and employment requirements with local authorities. International: All graduates are eligible to teach in Victoria in their field of specialisation. While many graduates hold a range of interstate and overseas teaching positions, applicants are advised to check with local authorities regarding teacher registration requirements. |
